Inflammation hurts!
If you are suffering from the extremely irritating effects of acute inflammation or the persistent debilitation of chronic inflammation, you CAN do something about it.
But it may require drastic measures.
It is admittedly difficult to adjust your diet but think of it this way, if you were fighting a war, would you only wear your helmet or take your weapons when you felt like it? Of course not!
Knowing the following common inflammation trigger foods will give you the protection and ammunition needed to really win your battle with this insidious enemy.
Food That Can Trigger Inflammation
- eggs
- corn
- wheat
- beef, chicken, pork
- nuts and peanuts
- tomatoes
- onions
- apples, citrus fruits, bananas
- chocolate
- alcohol
- caffeinated beverages
Wow! That is a tough list, right? Well, fortunately, there is another list of “good” foods. Check out the list of foods that fight inflammation, it is actually a lot longer.
In Dr. William Meggs book, “The Inflammation Cure” he offers very good advice for making this type change in your diet. He says, “An elimination diet requires considerable time investment of time and can be uncomfortable and inconvenient, so choose a time when you will be able to follow through on the diet (as opposed to starting a week before your daughter’s wedding, for example).
All the best to you as you take another step toward excellent health.

You have citrus fruits on the inflammation list. Then you have orange, grapefruit, lime and lemon on the anti-inflammatory list. Which is it?

Ginger:
This guys list disagrees with the rest of the world’s list. The reason is that this guy belongs to the mainstream western orthodox medical community and the more people that follow his disinformation, the more inflammation that needs to be treated by big med…

i have four auto-immune diseases. (yikes!, huh?) the first to manifest? psoriasis. now, while i’ve cursed the psoriasis for 25 years, i’ve also come to regard it as a marker of inflammation. that is to say: when my psoriasis is red, inflamed and painful, i know something is going on *inside.* so i’ve been making gradual changes to my diet for the past couple of years and making note of what works and what doesn’t. (and for the record, one of my other auto-immune diseases is Multiple Sclerosis, so…i’m pretty clear on when things have *really* spiraled out of control). i’ve drastically reduced or eliminated entirely processed sugar, foods with a high-glycemic index (bread, potatoes, corn, white rice) and increased my fruits/vegetable intake to a minimum of 6 servings/day. all of that has helped quite a lot; my psoriasis wasn’t getting too out of hand, but it was still there.
and then…then i started eating 2 eggs/day for my lunch (with two veggies and a fruit). and after a couple of weeks, you know what happened? my psoriasis started to spontaneously clear. so i did some research to see if the eggs had something to do with it, being as the addition of them to my diet was one of two things i’d changed.
and sure enough: eggs have TREMENDOUS anti-inflammatory properties. start with this article: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=92
so that’s about the eggs. the other thing i changed?
i added a whole apple to my morning oatmeal. i eat organic oatmeal, no sugar added. so, with some cinnamon and a whole apple in my oatmeal, that’s my entire breakfast.
so, with all due respect, i must ask: eggs and apples as inflammatory agents? really? i know what i see on my skin–it’s an excellent visible marker of inflammation. and it is disappearing faster than ever before with the help of those two foods.
i think you are most definitely mistaken with those two foods on your list.
